Empire Records and Bidet [5/10]

Lucas opened up Empire with every intention of making it a Greatful Dead kind of day.

So who the heck had stuck a Hoku album into the stereo, and why couldn't he get it back out?

Alas, it seemed he was stuck with girly pop, today. It was catchy, though. . . .

[ooc: Empire Records and Bidet is a music store and art gallery. Come by to shop, dance in the aisles, or partake of the special brownies! Shop lifters will be chased down in the streets and just possibly offered a job.]

Marty walked into the store and gave Lucas a friendly wave. "Hey Boss-man. How's business?"

"Marty. Same as usual, really." Which meant, unfortunately, slow. "You don't work today."

Jamie, who was exploring the town after registering for his workshops, just happened to be walking into the store at that point.

He looked at Marty and scoffed at the suit. "Where does he work? A funeral parlor?"

"I work here, Pal," Marty said sharply. "Or at least yesterday. Did I mention to you Lucas that I'm taking the first summer term off?"

Lucas raised an eyebrow at the new guy, but kept most of his attention on Marty. "You didn't. When are you planning on leaving?"

"Er. Tomorrow." Marty said meekly. "For about seven weeks."

Bored, Tyler went to poke at the store's stash of electronica and Smiths CDs.

He spent some time trying to size up the dude in the suit.

Lucas noted the entrance of a new kid and nodded to him as he talked to Marty and Jamie.

Tyler raised his fingers in a pol;ite half-wave. "You work here?"

"I own the place." Lucas raised an eyebrow. "Can I help you find something?"

"I think I'm good," Tyler said, with apparent sincerity.

Which he was. He was also busily moving all of the Jessica and Ashlee Simpson CDs in the store into the Death Metal section whenever Lucas looked away.

Tyler nodded. "Hey, man. Nice threads."

"Thanks," Marty said nodding at the guy in a hawaiian shirt and jeans. "It's a look. Right back atcha."

"Clothes do make the man," Tyler said lightly. "So are you one of the new students, or have you actually been here a while?"

"I'm an old-timer," Marty said with a grin. "Been here since September. You just get here?"

Orlin wandered in, one of the few appearances' he had been making recently.

"Hey, you have any Pavorotti?"

"Of course." Lucas pointed to indicate the right section. "How are you, Orlin? I haven't seen you in awhile."

"I've been... well I suppose the term used here is 'emo' and holed up. But then realized I needed to get my act together so I'm not totally useless."

He shrugged, "How about you?"

"Same as usual, pretty much. When my employees aren't trying to scare the hell out of me."

He snickered, then stopped, but hid his smile behind a hand.

"Erm, what happened?"

"They faked their deaths by shooting each other in my store." Lucas obviously didn't find this amusing. "Without telling me, first."

"Oh..." he blinked, "I never heard about that but, did they have a reason for doing that? Or just for fun?"
