Empire Records and Bidet, Monday around noon (not open for business)

Lucas got up around 11 on Monday morning and set about clearing a large space in the store for Orlin to work in. He had a spare stereo in the back, just in case Orlin's work ended disasterously, and he had the tools Orlin had identified and the supplies he'd requested set up in the cleared area.

He sipped coffee and waited by the door so he could open it when Orlin arrived.

Orlin glanced at Lucas' hand and reached into his bag and pulled out a cream. "Put this on." He directed. He had made this after he had burned his hand on his first stereo while in production.

He put the cage in a sealed metallic looking box and poured the chemical and fiberglass mix over the mess of wires. Closing the lid he punched a couple of numbers in the top.

Now to work on the remote.

Lucas took the cream and looked at it. He sniffed it slightly. Then he shrugged and put it on his hand.

It did make it hurt less.

"Is there anything that you don't know about?"

Orlin grinned, there was definitely alot he did not know about.

"I don't understand,please specify" He said, looking over his shoulder and smilingmischievously before returning to the remote device he was creating. This was the easy part really.

Lucas noted the smile and congratulated himself internally for lifting the guy's spirits. He'd been quite mopey when he'd come in.

"Well, apparently your interpersonal communication could use some work. I hear there's a great speech teacher down at the school you could talk to."

Lucas grinned internally at the thought of CJ's reaction to this guy. That would be fun to watch.

"Are you insinuating that my word play is challenged?" Orlin asked, smiling as he stuck a small plastic chip in the phone, and began to reformate the outer case of the now ex-cell phone.

"Of course not." he responded coolly. "I'm merely suggesting that, like much of the population, you could benefit from a little bit of training in the area of communication." He smirked. "Especially since you had to ask."

Orlin laughed.

"Then perhaps I should go and ask for some linguistic help then?" He asked rehtorically.

The metallic box thing beeped and Orlin went to open it.

"Perhaps." Lucas sipped his coffee again. "Have you met CJ yet?"

"Yes I have. I met her outside of Mauvais Chance the morning after the party." He grinned, "She'd spent thenight over at a friends house and we had a nice chat. And," Orlin looked very happy for a second, "She's invited me over so I can see TARDIS"

All this while he slowly eased a clear box of something onto the table, and pressed a button that was glowing a llight blue on the side.

Lucas was starting to suspect that Orlin was actually using some sort of alien technology. But as long as the government wasn't going to come make him disappear for having it in his store, he was okay with that.

"TARDIS? I don't think I've heard of him."

Orlin shrugged, working on his totally alien technology as he answered Lucas' question, "According to CJ TARDIS is a phone booth in the park, only it is really a pocket in space so the inside is bigger then the outside. Apparently this pocket is very big."

He held the blank cd's infrount of the clear boxy thing and it sucked them up. It made a slight purring sound, flashed green, and ejected all three blanks.

"Can you pass me some real cd's please?" Orlin asked.

Lucas thought for a moment, then handed Orlin a couple mix CDs that he kept on hand for samples. He could always burn more if these got somehow wrecked.

"A pocket in space, huh? That sounds useful."

"It sounds fascinating." Orlin corrected. He let the sample cd's get pulled in, and then took the remote. It worked. The *wavey wavey* music filled the room.

"These are your speakers." Orlin informed Lucas, holding up what had appeared to be just cardboard cutouts with screening stretched over them.

Lucas took one of the speakers. Sure enough, he could feel it vibrating with the base. "You definitely have to patent this. Imagine the possibilities with a surround sound system."

Orlin grinned, "I will be looking into it, I assure you. Now, all you need to put them up is glue, or duct tape. Whatever you want. And they are durable." He demonstrated by moving to attempt to break it over his knee.

Lucas winced slightly as he waited for the speaker to break, then smiled when it didn't. "Do you mind if I tell my friend Mark about this? Considering the . . . violence of his shows, he might appreciate a speaker that doesn't break easily."

"Not at all." Orlin said, starting to put everything away. "It might be good for extra income." He continued smiling.

"I'll let him know next time he's in town, then." Lucas smiled. "Though I might not tell him it's made by the man who dislikes metal."

"I do like metal!" Orlin protested, "I was just messing with the kids head. Wait, thats' who I'm making them for maybe?" He burst out laughing.

"That would be him, yes." Lucas raised an eyebrow and continued smiling. He might have even chuckled silently once. "He's actually ever so slightly more together than he seems. He was much worse when he was younger."

"I bet," Orlin said, chuckling and pulling himself together.

"I can see why he might need stronger speakers though."
